Adult Volunteer Opportunities at the library!

Several opportunities are available for library volunteers.
- Circulation - sorts returned materials, shelves materials, shelf reads, and straightens materials
- Computer docent - assists customers in getting onto the Internet, using Microsoft Office, and printing
- Literacy tutor - assist adults 18 years old and up with learning to read English.
- Special programs - as needed
The Library requires all applicants to fill out the online volunteer application , complete a short shelving test, and pass a background check and interview. Background checks will be done through live scan with the Hemet Human Resources Department.
Court ordered community service is NOT accepted.
Teen Volunteers
Teens between age 13-17 can volunteer at the library to fulfill school community service requirements.The Library requires all applicants to fill out the online volunteer application and pass a background check and interview. Background checks will be done through live scan at the Hemet Human Resources Department. Volunteers may sign up for time on our volunteer calendar at the reference desk after the Human Resources Department has cleared them to work.
Court-ordered community service and community service for school disciplinary problems are NOT accepted.
Jobs that teens can do:
--Shelve children and teen books
--Empty book bins and put book carts in order
--Clean DVDs
--Special projects such as helping prepare for storytime, decorating bulletin boards, assisting with special events for children and teens.
