HEMET, CA – The City of Hemet continues to work with Caltrans and our local businesses that might be affected by the future Caltrans safety project which proposes to construct a raised curb median on State Route 74 (SR 74/Florida Avenue) from West Acacia Avenue to Ramona Expressway. The City has made available, in draft format, the proposed plans at /sr74/.

Caltrans is proposing the construction of a raised curb median along this section of Florida Avenue and is anticipated to begin in 2018. In an effort to create a balance between safe and efficient movement of vehicles and people within the public street right-of-way, the needs of the City's business community and residents, City staff is proposing a series of outreach meetings to discuss the project in detail. Currently, two meetings have been scheduled to discuss this project in detail with the business community. All local businesses are encouraged to attend. These meetings are:

Once these meetings are complete, the City will assess the recommendations and hold a public forum for a Resident Advisory Group which will be comprised of residents throughout the community. The City is soliciting letters of interest from Residents to represent the community at this meeting. Letters should be postmarked no later than Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 and sent to:

Residents will be selected in order to assure that a geographically diverse representation will provide input. The Resident Advisory Group meeting date will be announced shortly.
