FAQ's
What is the difference between a project and a task?
A project is a significant initiative that typically involves multiple tasks and has a defined goal or objective. It is a complex undertaking that requires planning, coordination, and management to achieve a specific outcome. An example of a project would be Park Beautification.
A task is a single unit of work that needs to be completed within a project. It is a specific action or activity that an individual or a team can complete. Tasks are often smaller in scope and can be conducted independently or as part of a larger project. An example of a task would be planting flowers in a park garden.
Do I have to commit to cleaning during the entirety of the event?
Volunteers are asked to check in at the designated time to participate in the kickoff. During the kickoff, volunteers will receive a debrief of the event, covering locations, safety measures, and other important information. For safety purposes, it is highly recommended that volunteers stay present for the entirety of the event. However, if a participant needs to leave early, the participant or the participant's parent or guardian must inform the project leader. Informing the project leader is to ensure an accurate record of hours completed and the roster.
Where will volunteers meet?
West Valley High School Stadium
Will transportation be provided?
Transportation to and from the event will be the responsibility of the participant or the participant's parent or guardian. Please make sure to plan accordingly and arrive on time for the kickoff.
Are parent or guardians required to accompany their minor during the duration of the event?
Those under the age of 18 must also have a parent sign the waiver of liability as well and volunteers under the age of 14 must have parent or guardian volunteer with them at all times.
Do I have to have specific skills to participate in a task?
Although it would be helpful, participants are not required to have a specific skill set to participate in a particular task. However, some tasks need a basic level or higher understanding to perform a task.
Can I use this event for community service hours for school?
Yes, it is highly recommended that all middle, high school and college-level students use this opportunity to collect community service hours. Please bring school or organization paperwork for the project leader to sign off after the event concludes.
Will cleaning materials be provided?
Yes, some materials will be provided.
Can I bring my own tools and materials?
Participants may bring their own materials and tools but are responsible for their tools before, during, and after the event. The City is not required to reimburse or replace any materials used, misplaced, or stolen.
Can I donate materials?
Yes, residents, businesses, and organizations may donate materials. All materials can be dropped off at the City Hall Building, and donations will be accepted until Wednesday, April 22nd at 5:30 P.M.
