Mobile Home Rent Review Commission

Overview

Established by initiative of the voters of the City of Hemet in 1979, the duties are outlined in the Hemet Municipal Code under Ordinance No. 772 (PDF).

Duties and Responsibilities

The Commission shall meet, from time to time, as requested by the City Manager or upon the filing of a petition as described in the Municipal Code. The commission reviews the following items:

  • To receive, investigate, and hold hearings upon the petitions of mobile home tenants.
  • To adopt, promulgate, amend, and rescind administrative rules to effectuate the purposes and policies of the division.
  • Review of rent increases as outlined in (Ordinance Number 772; Code 1984, § 3405).

The commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council to 3 year terms. The Commission shall be composed of one mobile home park owner, one mobile home park renter, and three "at large" residents who do not reside in mobile home rental parks. Meetings

The commission meets by request only to discharge the responsibilities of the Commission. Meeting locations will be noted on all Commission agendas. Notices for the meetings will be in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act. Agendas will be posted online and at City Hall. Public attendance is welcome.
